About Me

I am an Extra Class Amateur Radio Operator (NJ3P).  I was a a volunteer examiner for the ARRL for many years.  Unfortunately due to work and moving the exams have taken a back seat, I no longer participate in the ARRL VEC program.

This is my little corner in cyberspace to express my interests and some information about me.

Some of my favorite shows include, House, Heroes, Sarah Connor, Ghost Hunters,  Firefly, Airwolf, Star Trek, Dead Like Me, Otherworld, Automan, Greatest American Hero, Ultraman, Logan's Run, The Tomorrow People, any Zorro movie, the old 70's Battlestar Galactica, The Avengers, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, and lots of others. Most anything Sci-Fi I will show interest in.  I own and download alot of 80's sci-fi shows on DVD and Divx.  I love Zorro.  I think I have just about every Zorro movie and show that has been made.  I even have the 1920's version with Douglas Fairbanks.  I remember having my mom make me a Zorro mask after watching the 1974 Zorro and became a Zorro fan ever since.

I just use discones and magnet mount antennas outside on the patio. Being in an apartment, they won't allow me to put up anything. Years ago before I moved here, I had a 50' tower and many dipoles and an antenna for just about anything. Too bad I had to move. I do ok for most of my chat is local. Some radios I recently sold were Kenwood 430s, Swan 350D, Alinco 110, Alinco 510, Eico 753, Realistic DX-200, Realistic DX-100, and some I cant remember. I wouldn't use them here in the apartment.

I have about 5-6 computers. My main pc in the living room is a new Dell 2.6GHz I use for everything.

In the back room is my server room. I have a storage pc with 4 hard drives that houses everything I need. Drivers, programs, alot of sound and movie clips, and alot of MP3's I like to listen to.

One pc runs Winmx only. I trade mostly sci-fi stuff for other sci-fi stuff. It runs winmx 24/7 and does nothing else. I usually download several gigabytes a week. I also download 80's shows. Need something? Email me, I might have a theme song or show you haven't seen in 20 to 30 years...

Another pc in the back is my Linux box. I set it up basically so I can learn Linux. Right now it is running this website, my email (qmail) server, an IRC server (irc.portalx.org), and several bots on the IRC for games and channel protection. I also use it for other things, currently its uptime is 153 days. It had longer but a power failure lost a 200+ day uptime. It is on a big UPS now :)

And lastly is my MAME arcade emulator pc. I love playing the old games tempest and pac-man and I have about 1500 of the old rom programs from the old 80's arcade games.

My favorite pet is a cat, unfortunately I am allergic to most breeds. In addition to ham radio, my hobbies include coin collecting and irc-ing.
