Reasons for a Sitter

Some Info about the business
Going on vacation? Leaving town to see an ill loved one? Can't get home
in time to feed and care for your horses and pets? Town & Country Horse-Home
and Pet Sitting is now open full time to fill that need. The service has
been in effect for about a year and a half on a part-time basis, and now
since owner-operator Deanna Kratt has retired from Verizon after 21 years of
customer service, she is giving full time to care and love of four-footed
friends.
The service was born from a need. The owner had wanted to go to Canada
for three days and nights in June in 2004 but there was no one to care for
the horses. Neighbors can always take care of the dogs and cat. But who
could be trusted to turn out and bring in the horses? What if there was a
thunderstorm? My half Arabian gets scared of thunder, and I don't like my
horses out in a storm. These were young horses, and strong..who could I
trust? How could I find someone?... and would I be constantly worrying while
I was away? I needed someone that would give me peace of mind that they
could handle the situation.
After several phone calls, I located a young lady at a nearby stable that
agreed to pet sit for me. Knowing that she had been around horses for years,
lived nearby, and was highly recommended gave me much comfort. I invited her
over to handle the "girls" and see if she felt comfortable with everything,
and gave her several pages of notes regarding everything I wanted done
(including stall-cleaning three times a day). I made sure she understood the
needs of each animal, and left for vacation with full confidence and peace
that the job would be done well.
Town & Country Horse-Home and Pet Sitting now exists to fulfill these
same requirements for you. We are committed to the high ideals of Pet
Sitters International and to your high ideals. You will find your home just
as you left it. We make your home looked "lived in", bring in mail and
papers, and make a pre-determined number of visits, which can include light
housekeeping, yard pick-up and stall-cleaning and giving of medications if
needed. A signed contract and pre-travel interview are required to make sure
you and your pet are satisfied.
Service areas include townships in Butler County of Cranberry,
Connoquenessing, Renfrew, Butler city, Zelienople, Evans City, Slippery
Rock, Harmony, Prospect, Portersville, Meridian, and Lyndora. So you too can
travel when you need to without worry about what is happening at home. Daily
calls to your cell phone can be made to alleviate your worry if need be.
Also a diary of each day is left for you to enjoy upon return home. Photos
are taken with your permission for sake of identification of pets and may be
enlarged for purchase and framing, if you wish.
Policies and procedures are available on request, as are rates. The rates
are determined either by visit, per day, per night, or per hour. Visits are
thirty minutes and include feeding pets, exercise, brushing if requested,
bringing in mail, yard cleaning and stall cleaning and fresh water at least
twice daily. Lights may be changed nightly as a theft deterrent. Pet history
is required, and a signed contract stating rates and duties. The sitter is
bonded and insured, and a member of Pet Sitters International, for
additional peace of mind.
